Bill Schiess - Henrys Lake Expert
Bill Schiess: The Author
I have written several articles on fishing and other outdoor activities. My two favorite places on this earth are on the water and in the classroom.
My major writing agenda has been a book on Henrys Lake and how to fish it. It can be found in several bookstores and fly shops in the western United States. Or it can be ordered by writing to me or by e-mailing me. The cost is $14.95 plus $2.10 postage and shipping.
The book goes through my style of fishing Henrys Lake month-by-month with suggestions on flies, lines and areas to fish during those months. It is one of the most informative books on any lake in the United States and tells many of the authors secrets. It is a must for any serious fisherman planning on fishing Henrys Lake for the first or one-hundreth time.
Bill Schiess: The Guide
Bill Schiess is licensed and bonded to guide fishermen on Henrys Lake. The season opens up on the Saturday of Memorial Weekend and closes on October 31 each season. Bill guides from June 1 until mid August when school begins.
He likes to start guiding at 5:30 to 6:00 a.m. and comes off the water at noon. This is by far the best time of the day to fish the lake. The daily wind during the afternoon and the hot sun usually stops the feeding of the fish for the most of the rest of the day. Occasionally Bill will guide during the evenings, but the evenings are usually much poorer fishing than the mornings.
Soft drinks and snack items are supplied for the morning trip. A guest can use Bill's rods and reels if necessary for the trip. Flies are supplied at the expense of the guest.
